My Approach

I am an integratively trained psychotherapist, which means I draw upon a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches to tailor therapy to each individual's unique needs, experiences and goals. I believe that no two people are the same, and therefore therapy should never be a one-size-fits-all approach. Together, we work to understand your experiences, recognise your strengths, and explore ways of moving forward that feel authentic and meaningful to you.

My work is grounded in the understanding that our emotional wellbeing is influenced by our relationships, life experiences, our nervous system, and our connection with both ourselves and the world around us. I strive to provide a safe, compassionate and collaborative therapeutic space where you can explore difficult experiences at your own pace while feeling supported and empowered throughout the process.

To support this exploration, I incorporate a variety of therapeutic tools (always with your consent) including psychoeducation, creative activities, metaphor, storytelling, art, music, mindfulness practices and tailored therapeutic resources. These approaches can help deepen self-awareness, develop healthier coping strategies, build resilience and self-esteem, reduce anxiety, and strengthen emotional regulation.

Recognising the close relationship between mind and body, I also integrate somatic approaches where appropriate. Trauma, chronic stress and emotional difficulties are often held within the body as well as the mind. For clients who feel comfortable doing so, therapy may include gentle body-based techniques designed to support nervous system regulation and reconnect with a greater sense of safety and wellbeing.

As part of this holistic approach, I can incorporate ecotherapy, working outdoors in natural environments where appropriate. Spending time in nature has been shown to reduce stress, improve mood, increase emotional regulation and promote a greater sense of connection, grounding and perspective. Outdoor therapy offers a different therapeutic experience for those who find it easier to reflect and process whilst walking or sitting in natural surroundings.

Where clinically appropriate and with your informed consent, I also offer the integration of therapeutic massage within treatment. Massage is not provided as a standalone service but may be incorporated to help reduce physical manifestations of stress and trauma, ease muscular tension, increase body awareness and support nervous system regulation. This approach is always discussed collaboratively and only used where it is therapeutically beneficial and within professional and ethical boundaries.

Mindfulness and meditation can also be incorporated into sessions, providing practical techniques that can be used both within therapy and in everyday life. These approaches support emotional regulation, reduce stress and anxiety, and help individuals develop greater awareness of their thoughts, emotions and physical sensations. They can also provide a gentle transition at the end of sessions before returning to everyday life.

Alongside my integrative approach, I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy for trauma, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Complex PTSD, anxiety disorders and other difficulties linked to distressing life experiences. EMDR follows an evidence-based eight-phase treatment model, including assessment, preparation, emotional stabilisation, resource development, trauma processing using bilateral stimulation, and ongoing review. Therapy is always paced according to your individual needs, ensuring that you feel safe, supported and emotionally resourced throughout the process.

Above all, I believe that healing happens within a trusting therapeutic relationship. My aim is to provide a warm, accepting and non-judgemental space where you feel heard, understood and supported to reconnect with yourself, develop resilience, and create lasting and meaningful change.
